Job summary

The City-County of Butte-Silver Bow is seeking a Deputy County Attorney to join the Butte-Silver Bow legal team in Montana. You will prosecute criminal offenses and provide legal guidance to City-County departments and boards, ensuring lawful and ethical administration of city-county operations.

Under supervision, you will prepare charging documents, represent the county in court, and collaborate with judges, law enforcement, and Victim Witness Advocates to protect the community.

Responsibilities

• Prosecute misdemeanor and felony offenses for the City-County of Butte-Silver Bow.
• Provide legal advice to City-County departments, boards and the Council of Commissioners.
• Prepare and review charging documents, orders, motions, and briefs for court.
• Serve as lead attorney on assigned cases and assist other attorneys as needed.
• Research legal issues, briefs, and post-conviction motions; prepare appeals.
• Coordinate with Victim Witness Advocates, witnesses and law enforcement during investigations and trials.
