Job summary

Redwood County is seeking an Assistant County Attorney to conduct criminal prosecutions from charging through sentencing across felonies and misdemeanors. This role requires coordination with the County Attorney’s Office and other departments, including civil law and human services.

The attorney will prepare witnesses and evidence for hearings, appear in various court settings, and draft legal documents while maintaining strict confidentiality and attending meetings as requested.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor degree.
• A license to practice law in the State of Minnesota.
• Member in good standing of the State Bar.

Responsibilities

• Conduct criminal prosecutions from charging through sentencing in felony, gross misdemeanor, misdemeanor and petty misdemeanor cases.
• Represent Redwood County in District Court at arraignments, pre-trials, hearings, and trials.
• Draft legal documents and perform legal research as needed.
• Coordinate with probation agents and caseworkers; advise county staff and departments.
• Maintain confidentiality under the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act.
