Job summary

Adams 12 Five Star Schools is seeking an Interpreter/Transliterator to facilitate communication between Deaf/Hard of Hearing students and staff. The role includes tutoring, language support, and collaboration with the education team in Thornton, CO.

Requirements include an Interpreter Preparation Program degree and proficiency in CASE/PSE or ASL; no experience is required, though one year is preferred. This is a part-time, 0.90 FTE position with a 36-hour workweek and 9 months per year.

Qualifications

• Degree from an Interpreter Preparation Program (IPP) (Associates or Bachelors as required by IPP).
• Proficient in use of Conceptually Accurate Signed English (CASE)/Pidgin Signed English (PSE), and/or American Sign Language (ASL).
• No experience required; one (1) year of experience preferred in educational interpreting.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and/or transliterate all academic instruction, films, assemblies, conferences, student meetings, and other activities for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students.
• Tutor Deaf/Hard of Hearing students individually or in small groups, reinforce concepts, model language and assist with learning sign systems.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff, schedule interpreters, prepare instructional materials, and support DH/H department as needed.
