Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must meet one of: 2 years of higher education or an associate's degree or higher.
  • ASL Certification or ability to obtain.
  • Experience with children with special needs preferred.
  • Knowledge of childhood development and behavior management preferred.
  • First Aid and CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide sign language interpretation, translation, or communication facilitation based on student IEP requirements.
  • Adapt support approach for direct instruction, group work, or tutoring.
  • Report notable academic or behavioral observations to staff and share hearing loss needs.
  • Collaborate with the IEP team to assess and improve communication access for students.
  • Implement approved curriculum accommodations and modifications.
  • Work with general and special education staff, administrators, and external partners to support instruction.
