Job summary

University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture seeks an Extension Program Specialist to plan and deliver Family and Consumer Sciences and 4-H educational programs at the county level. You will liaison with local government and community partners, develop action plans, and provide research-based education to diverse audiences.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree and willingness to travel, with possible long or irregular hours and regular reporting duties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in family and consumer sciences, education, youth development, or related field; degree must be conferred by date of hire or Bachelor’s degree with relevant work experience.
• Must have reliable transportation for use on the job with liability insurance in effect.
• Must successfully complete the standard background check which includes the Arkansas Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry Check.

Responsibilities

• Maintains knowledge of the social, economic, and political characteristics of the county and acts as liaison with local leaders, agencies, and governments.
• Develops and executes an annual action plan based on identified issues; plans, delivers and teaches educational programs addressing county needs.
• Leverages Extension specialists and research-based information to design, implement and teach educational programs in Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) areas.
• Serves as advisor to county Extension Homemaker Club officers and members; supports county EHC activities.
• Supports the county 4-H program and related activities, including FCS programming, training for events, and volunteer development.
• Employs evaluation techniques to measure impact and communicates results to stakeholders annually.
• Ensures compliance with civil rights requirements and promotes inclusivity.
• Completes and submits required reports monthly; collaborates with colleagues and partners to advance the Extension mission.
• Maintains relationships with Extension staff, clientele and the general public.
