Job summary

Kentucky State University is seeking an Area Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences to serve five counties in its Cooperative Extension program. The agent will design, implement, and evaluate education to improve quality of life and economic well‑being, in alignment with Extension priorities and university goals.

The role requires travel across counties to deliver programs via multiple modalities and to collaborate with community partners, schools, and organizations to extend research‑based

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Sciences or closely related field is required.
• Master’s degree in Family and Consumer Sciences or closely related field is preferred.
• Experience developing, delivering, or evaluating educational programs is preferred.
• Experience working with diverse populations and community-based organizations is preferred.
• Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and evaluate research-based FCS educational programs for Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Greenup, and Rowan Counties.
• Deliver programs through face-to-face classes, workshops, presentations, demonstrations, and digital formats.
• Assess community needs to guide Extension programming.
• Develop advisory groups, partnerships, and community involvement mechanisms.
• Provide educational programming and resources related to FCS topics.
• Collaborate with Extension leaders, faculty, and partners to strengthen programming.
• Establish and maintain relationships with community organizations and stakeholders.
• Create and share Extension publications, materials, and digital content.
• Utilize websites and social media to promote programs and distribute information.
• Develop outreach to engage underserved, limited-resource populations.
• Maintain records and report outcomes as required by Extension.
