Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is seeking a Positive Support Specialist to join our Intensive Community Residential Services programs. You will help individuals with intensive medical, behavioral, and mental health needs live more independently, both at home and in the community, using a person-centered approach.

You will participate in training for Positive Behavioral Supports, assist with daily living activities, advocate for clients’ rights, and document every shift while contributing

Qualifications

• Minimum education is a high school diploma; a degree in a relevant field is preferred.
• 1–5 years of experience with people with complex needs; 3–5 years preferred.
• Must pass a Bureau of Criminal Affairs background check and have a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals to be more independent in daily living activities.
• Advocate for clients' rights and access to medical care within the community.
• Complete necessary documentation and record-keeping each shift.
• Manage crisis situations safely; training provided for Positive Behavioral Supports.
• Engage in trauma-informed care daily.
