Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern California is seeking a Community Services Specialist to provide emergency assistance and manage food bank operations. You will help participants select food, assist with emergencies, and support daily Community Services office activities.

Responsibilities include intake interviews, food distribution monitoring, case referrals, and collaboration with TSA programs. Candidates should be able to lift up to 50 lbs and pass a background check.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; AA degree or higher preferred.
• Experience working with low-income and vulnerable people is desirable.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the food bank: order, accept, stock, and organize food; notify supervisor of issues.
• Breakdown and restock products from pallets; restock shelves and walk-ins.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment in the food pantry and warehouse.
• Interview applicants to determine eligibility for social services and agency resources.
• Monitor and record food distributions to clients; follow up on participant status.
• Assist with Community Services Office tasks including Food Bank Operations, Case Management, and Emergency Assistance Programs.
• Support seasonal events and cross-train in other TSA programs.
