Job summary

The Salvation Army in Michigan is seeking a Program Assistant to support the Director of Social Services and coordinate Community Center programs for children and adults, promoting emotional, physical, and spiritual health.

Responsibilities include implementing and supervising programs such as Community Kitchen, showers, and laundry; building relationships with families; ensuring safety and order; and supporting daily maintenance of the facility. Minimum education and 18+.

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED required or equivalent.
• Training and/or education in leading social service programs preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Assist community center programming in implementing, conducting and supervising programs which would include Community Kitchen, showers, laundry and other community services.
• Assist in building relationships with parents and children that participate in these programs.
• Enforces facility safety regulations and emergency procedures.
• Maintain order in the Community Center by enforcing rule relating to conduct and the use of equipment and facilities.
• May be responsible for opening and closing the community center.
• Help to safeguard all equipment and supplies including tables, chairs, washer, dryer, etc.
• Responsible for regular cleaning and maintaining the facility when used for programming.
• Perform other duties as assigned
