Job summary

The Salvation Army in Michigan is seeking a Community Center Program Assistant to support all community center programs and provide office and program-related help. You will assist visitors, clients, and staff, acting as the primary resource for questions and program guidance when the Director is unavailable.

You will help care for participants, identify needs, foster hospitality, and support group activities while enforcing safety rules and emergency procedures.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED completed.
• Experience or training in youth programming preferred.
• Experience or training in food service operations preferred.
• Basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all Community Center programs including office and program-related support.
• Serve as main resource for questions and program guidance in absence of the Director.
• Care for and well-being of program participants; identify and meet participant needs.
• Encourage group interaction, problem solving and decision making.
• Guide groups or individuals in activity plans.
• Enforce facility safety regulations and emergency procedures.
• Clean tables and vacuum carpets; assist with meals as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
