Job summary

The Salvation Army in Michigan seeks a Program Assistant to support Community Center programs for children and adults, boosting emotional, physical and spiritual health. You will assist in implementing programs (Community Kitchen, showers, laundry), build relationships with participants, enforce safety rules, and help open/close the center.

Basic computer skills and willingness to obtain First Aid/CPR certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirement is a High School diploma or GED, or equivalent
• Training/education in leading social service programs is preferred
• Must be at least 18 years old

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing, conducting and supervising Community Center programs (e.g., Community Kitchen, showers, laundry)
• Build relationships with parents and children participating in programs
• Enforce facility safety regulations and emergency procedures
• Maintain order by enforcing conduct rules and proper use of equipment
• May be responsible for opening and closing the community center
• Safeguard equipment and supplies (tables, chairs, washer, dryer, etc.)
• Perform regular cleaning and maintenance of the facility when used for programming
• Perform other duties as assigned
