Job summary

South Carolina Department of Social Services is seeking a dedicated CWS Case Manager to provide case management within the Family Preservation program in York County. You will assess safety and permanency needs, develop service referrals, and coordinate with families and professionals to support child welfare outcomes.

This role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field or a BSW/MSW plus experience; on-call duties may be required, with a structured career path and ongoing training

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or Social Science required.
• Bachelor's Degree in any field plus 1 year related experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Performs case management in the Child Welfare area of Family Preservation, includes time-limited interventions, safety assessments, and least intrusive services.
• Handles case planning, FAST documentation, and timely service referrals.
• Engages families and professionals with empathy; coordinates with legal when needed; participates in child and family team meetings.
• Maintains case records per policy and CAPSS documentation standards.
• Collaborates with legal for safety concerns and civil court proceedings; adheres to court orders.
• Maintains child welfare certification; completes 20 hours of annual training.
• Protects PII and safeguards agency networks and data.
• Performs Red Cross shelter or other emergency shelter duties as directed.
• Performs other duties as required.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or Social Science
