Job summary

State of South Carolina's Department of Social Services is seeking a CWS Case Manager in Hampton County to provide case management for Foster Care, develop strength-based permanency plans, and collaborate with families and partners to monitor safety and well-being.

The role requires a relevant Bachelor's degree, potentially a second degree with experience, and ongoing professional development. Comprehensive state benefits and ongoing training are provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social sciences or related field is required.
• If your degree is in another field, at least 1 year of related experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Case management and concurrent planning in Child Welfare (Foster Care).
• Collaborate with Child and Family Teams to develop permanency plans.
• Monitor safety, permanency, and well-being using GPS Practice Model.
• Perform on-call duties as assigned.
• Contacts and visits to ensure safety and well-being for caseload.
• Update FAST (Family Advocacy and Support Tool) and develop Family Permanency Plans.
• Engage families and professionals with empathy; respond promptly to communications.
• Locate and engage absent parents, relatives, and fictive kin; participate in team meetings.
• Maintain case records; document in CAPSS per policy and standards.
• Collaborate with legal to promote timely permanency; attend court as needed.
• Complete 20 hours of training annually to maintain welfare certification.
• Practice self-care to mitigate secondary trauma; understand trauma impact.
• Ensure PII is used and protected; safeguard agency networks.
• Perform Red Cross or other emergency shelter duties as directed.
• Perform other duties as required.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or Social Science

Bachelor's Degree in any other field and one year experience
