Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Perry County Children & Youth seeks a County Caseworker 1 who can support families and safeguard children. You will perform intake assessments, determine risk, and guide families toward safer futures.

You will conduct safety investigations, carry out monthly home visits, support service planning, and monitor placements, while maintaining detailed family files. This full-time role requires completing core training after start.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
• A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake assessments, document information, and determine risk using the approved assessment model.
• Investigate reports of child mistreatment or abuse and ensure the safety of children involved.
• Complete monthly home visits and help develop family service plans.
• Manage out-of-home placements through monthly visits and family contact.
• Maintain detailed and accurate family files.
