Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seeks a County Caseworker 2 in Perry County Child Welfare Services to protect children and support families. You will assess safety, respond to concerns, and help families build stable environments through case management, home visits, and service planning.

This role emphasizes compassionate teamwork, accurate record-keeping, and adherence to training standards. On-site schedule is typical business hours with periodic on-call rotation.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
• Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
• A bachelor’s degree with a social welfare major; or
• A bachelor’s degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Responsibilities

• Intake planning: Complete intake documentation and assess risk using approved models
• Child safety: Investigate reports of mistreatment and take steps to ensure the safety of children
• Family support: Conduct monthly home visits and develop family service plans
• Placement oversight: Carry out out of home placement duties including monthly visits and family contact
• Record management: Maintain accurate and detailed family files
