Job summary

Urban Pathways is seeking a Career Development Specialist to build and maintain a portfolio of competitive job placements in business, industry, and the community. You will partner with mental health clients to help them obtain competitive employment and coordinate with case managers to enroll eligible participants.

Responsibilities include developing and delivering employment training, maintaining employer relationships, and ensuring program compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; MSW or MA in closely related field preferred.
• 2 years’ experience creating and sustaining relationships with employers in job development required.
• Training experience preferred.
• Experience with homeless, mentally-ill and substance abuse population preferred.
• Experience with human services a plus.
• Experience with developing and facilitating employment and psycho-educational groups.
• Knowledge of relevant job markets and establishment of job contacts.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office).
• Foreign languages a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develops and sustains internships and competitive job placements and assesses clients for job fit.
• Maintains ongoing contact with employers.
• Works with employers to customize jobs meeting their needs and client skills.
• Collaborates with case managers to recruit participants who meet eligibility.
• Assists clients to develop employment plans and career goals.
• Ensures program compliance with basic standards.
• Provides ongoing support to clients.
• Develops employment training curriculum and conducts workshops.
• Delivers work-related discussions with individuals or groups.
• Enters progress notes within 48 hours of meetings.
• Completes Intake/Admission documentation within 24 hours.
• Documents assessments within required timeframe.
