Job summary

SMG System Medical Group seeks an Advanced Practice Professional to join a comprehensive inpatient care team in the Wheeling area. The role emphasizes assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients across age groups with collaboration across medical staff.

Requirements include a Master’s in Nursing, CCNE-accredited program, national APRN certification, WV RN/APRN licensure eligibility, and BLS with ALS/ACLS training. Excellent clinical judgment and patient education are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master’s Degree in Nursing.
• National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers.
• Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as an RN and APRN in West Virginia.
• Basic Life Support Certification with additional ALS/ACLS training as required.

Responsibilities

• Administers or orders diagnostic tests (x-ray, POC lab).
• Examines patients to obtain information about health status.
• Instructs and counsels patients on therapies, growth and health maintenance.
• Interprets diagnostic tests for deviations from normal.
• Makes diagnosis and treatment decisions for patients.
• Records medical data using the Meditech EMR.
• Performs injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care and infection management.
• Prescribes therapy or medication electronically when available.
• Educates and coordinates with medical assistants during care.
• Provides emergency support following established policies.
• Communicates with staff and administration to support operations.
