Job summary

City of Pasadena is seeking a dedicated coordinator to oversee animal rescue, transfer and foster care programs. The role involves recruiting volunteers, conducting home visits, and coordinating transfers with breed placement groups and partner shelters.

You will develop foster care work plans, manage adoptions, train volunteers and maintain accurate records in the shelter database, while collaborating with veterinary and behavior teams to ensure animal welfare.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous veterinary assistant and/or companion animal care experience.
• Acquire Basic Animal Control Certification within one year of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate animal rescue, transfer and foster care programs.
• Recruit and train foster care volunteers and perform home visits.
• Coordinate transfers to breed placement groups and other organizations.
• Coordinate transfers from other shelters and facilities to City of Pasadena's Animal Shelter.
• Develop, schedule and lead foster care training sessions and maintain training materials.
• Maintain all required records in the shelter's database.
• Safely and humanely handle and restrain animals.
• Engage with community, rescues and businesses for support and fundraising.
• Schedule appointments with volunteers and adopters.
• Communicate effectively with city employees, volunteers and the public.
