Job summary

City of Pasadena is seeking a dedicated coordinator to manage animal rescue, transfer and foster care activities. You will recruit and train foster volunteers, conduct home visits, and coordinate transfers to other organizations.

You will work with veterinary and behavior staff to assess care and rehabilitation needs and lead foster training sessions. This role requires maintaining accurate records in the shelter database, safe animal handling, and outreach to the community, rescues, and local

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous veterinary assistant and/or companion animal care experience.
• Acquire Basic Animal Control Certification within one year of hire date.
• PREFERRED: Prior experience working or volunteering at an animal shelter or animal rescue.
• Experience as a licensed veterinary technician.
• Certification or formal training in animal behavior.
• Prior experience managing volunteers including assigning work and evaluating performance.
• Prior experience conducting community outreach and or fundraising.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the animal rescue, transfer and foster care programs.
• Recruit and train foster care volunteers and perform required home visits.
• Coordinate transfer of animals to breed placement groups and other organizations and transfers from other shelters.
• Work with veterinary professionals, behavior, evaluation and enrichment staff.
• Develop, schedule and lead foster care training sessions and materials.
• Accurately maintain all required records in the shelter's database.
• Safely handle and restrain animals.
• Perform community outreach to increase support for the foster program.
• Coordinate appointments with foster volunteers and adopters.
• Establish and maintain communication with city employees, volunteers and the public.
• Adhere to City timekeeping and attendance policy.
• Must have all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or requirements.
