Job summary

The City of Pasadena, TX is seeking a dedicated coordinator to manage the animal rescue, transfer and foster care programs. You will recruit and train foster volunteers, perform home visits, and coordinate animal transfers with breed placement groups and other shelters.

Collaborating with veterinarians, behavior specialists, and volunteers, you will develop foster work plans, select animals for foster care, facilitate adoptions, and maintain records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Veterinary assistant or companion animal care experience.
• Ability to work a varied schedule.
• Valid Texas Class C driver's license.
• Acquire Basic Animal Control Certification within one year.
• Prior shelter or rescue volunteer/experience preferred.
• Experience as a licensed veterinary technician.
• Certification or training in animal behavior.
• Experience managing volunteers and evaluating performance.
• Experience in community outreach or fundraising.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate animal rescue, transfer and foster care programs.
• Recruit and train foster volunteers; perform home visits.
• Coordinate transfers to breed placement groups and other organizations.
• Work with veterinary and behavior professionals, volunteers and staff.
• Develop foster care work plans, goals, and objectives.
• Select animals for foster/rescue and arrange transfer and care.
• Facilitate adoptions by matching fosters with adopters; maintain adopter database.
• Coordinate training sessions; develop training materials.
• Maintain records in shelter database.
• Safely handle and restrain animals.
• Perform community outreach and fundraising; promote events.
• Coordinate appointments with foster volunteers and adopters.
• Maintain communication with city employees and the public.
• Follow city timekeeping and attendance policy.
• Must maintain necessary licenses, certifications, clearances.
