Job summary

VOALA is seeking an Academic Tutor to lead after-school tutoring sessions, develop engaging lesson plans, and provide one-on-one and small group support to students in Math, English, Science and related subjects in a Los Angeles setting.

You will create enrichment activities, track progress with logs and reports, and mentor students about college pathways. The role requires on-site work and a commitment to VOALA's mission of helping vulnerable populations.

Qualifications

• Fingerprint clearance and background check required.
• Ability to handle emotional stress and challenging clients.
• 1 year tutoring or related experience.
• Current college student with mastery of target subject
• Minimum GPA 3.0 in area of competency in high school.

Responsibilities

• Lead academic tutoring sessions for program participants.
• Coordinate daily homework assistance and tutoring for students.
• Develop lesson plans aligned with California Content Standards.
• Prepare classroom materials and manage tutoring resources.
• Complete tutorial logs daily and monthly reports.
• Mentor students about college experiences and lead college prep workshops.
