Job summary

The Greater Somerset County YMCA is seeking a Site Supervisor for its Somerville location to oversee before and after school programs. This on-site role focuses on creating a safe, engaging environment for 5–12 year olds, with a strong emphasis on youth development and family engagement.

The successful candidate will supervise children, implement varied activities, maintain space, and ensure safety procedures are followed.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Associates degree in childcare, education, or related field.
• 2+ years' experience with children ages 5-12.
• Experience working with children in a structured group setting.
• Ability to learn and think quickly to solve child-to-child situations.
• Good communication skills and ability to relate effectively to diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementation of activities for children including Enrichment Activities, Organized Physical Activities, Free Play and Snack Time.
• Supervise all children on the site.
• Build relationships with children and families—greet them positively and assist parents/guardians with questions or concerns.
• Maintain discipline with children under policy and Code of Conduct.
• Motivate and encourage participation in program activities.
• Provide a safe environment and follow safety procedures in emergencies.
• Develop an organized, clean, and stimulating space; clean/ disinfect equipment as required; maintain site/room.
• Keeps Youth Program Director apprised of situations requiring attention.
