Job summary

Greater Somerset County YMCA, Inc. in Franklin Township, NJ, seeks an After School Counselor/Site Supervisor to guide school-aged children in a safe, enriching environment.

This on-site role emphasizes leadership, communication, and problem solving as part of youth development. Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have at least 2 years experience working with children ages 5-13 years old.
• Experience overseeing staff preferred.
• Knowledge of current education practices.
• Must be able to effectively work with minimal on-site supervision.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and run daily activities for groups of 15-50 children.
• Create engaging games and activities to keep children engaged.
• Supervise activities including field trips and large/small group activities.
• Build relationships with children and their parents.
• Communicate daily happenings and incidents to parents.
• Coach and guide site assistants/counselors and campers.
• Maintain group belongings and first aid supplies.
• Model and promote YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility.
• Attend trainings and meetings as required.
