Job summary

Above It All is seeking an Addictions Counselor for our Substance Use Disorder Program in Baltimore, MD. This role plans and conducts therapeutic activities for individuals and groups within the program and provides individual and group counseling.

The counselor will collaborate with partner agencies and coordinate care, prepare treatment plans and records, and ensure compliance with ASAM criteria. Candidates must be licensed or certified and have at least one year of addiction counseling

Qualifications

• Licensed or certified as an alcohol and drug counselor by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists.
• Approved by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists; or Licensed, certified, or permitted under the Health Occupations Article, Annotated Code of Maryland to provide substance abuse treatment.
• 1 Year of Addiction Counseling Experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks in the therapeutic care, treatment, and rehabilitation of persons with substance use disorder(s) and/or mental health diagnoses.
• Facilitate and supervise individual and group counseling.
• Partner with social service agencies, managed care organizations, hospitals, clinics, courts, prisons, and other entities in coordinating client care.
• Assist clients in their access and utilization of community resources.
• Preparing treatment plans, biopsychosocial histories, discharge/ aftercare plans, reports and maintain accurate records.
• Coordinate educational and occupational training and/or possibilities for placement; and completing assessments and evaluations based on appropriate ASAM criteria.
• Ensure collection and documentation of urinalysis/ drug screening samples to ensure compliance with treatment requirements.
• Encourage, reassure, and provide needed support.
