Job summary

Neighborhood House Charter School (NHCS) is seeking a 5th Grade Special Education Teacher on a leave replacement. The role involves supporting students with mild intellectual impairments, building strong relationships, and collaborating with related service staff to implement accommodations and modifications across both substantially separate and general education settings.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred), MTEL certifications, an SEI Endorsement, and a valid MA

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
• Passing MTEL in Communications & Literacy and MTEL in the taught content area within first year.
• SEI Endorsement as defined by DESE within first year.
• Moderate/Severe Disabilities MA teaching license.
• Familiarity with WIDA frameworks preferred.
• Knowledge of Common Core Curriculum and MCAS Alternate Assessments.
• Two years teaching experience preferred.
• Commitment to anti-racist, culturally responsive and restorative practices.
• Warm Demanding ethos with high expectations.
• Able to start August 2026.

Responsibilities

• Support students with mild intellectual impairments and varied learning profiles with accommodations, modifications, and collaboration with related service providers.
• Teach in substantially separate and general education classrooms to meet diverse needs.
• Collaborate with related service staff to develop and implement individualized education plans.
