Job summary

The salary will be set on the board-approved schedule; the position is exempt (FLSA) and reports to the Principal. Duties include upholding school rules, implementing curriculum, and collaborating with staff to support student learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution.
• Certified by the State of Alabama in the appropriate area.
• Must meet highly qualified status as determined by Alabama State Department of Education.
• Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.

Responsibilities

• Understand and uphold school rules, regulations, and Board policies.
• Participate in the efficient operation of the school and system through meetings, conferences, and committees.
• Avoid any other employment that interferes with duties.
• Adhere to the Code of Ethics for teachers.
• Follow approved courses of study, curriculum guides, and textbooks.
• Foster citizenship, self-discipline, morality, and patriotism in students.
• Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated times.
• Create a conducive classroom environment within resource limits.
• Maintain appropriate discipline in the classroom and school.
• Prepare for classes and show evidence of preparation upon request.
• Maintain accurate records as required by law and policy.
• Evaluate student progress using established procedures.
• Seek specialist assistance and referrals when appropriate.
• Protect students and school property from harm.
• Be available to students/parents outside instructional hours as agreed.
• Plan school activities with staff; set instructional goals and methods.
• Assist in selecting books, equipment, and instructional materials.
• Participate in extracurricular activities as agreed.
• Attend faculty meetings regularly.
• Maintain professional relations with parents and community.
• Promote good public relations for the school and system.
• Maintain and improve professional competence.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal and director.
