Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in the area of instructional responsibility.
• Alabama State Department of Education teaching certification in the area of instructional responsibility.
• Meets the 'highly qualified' criteria as defined by the No Child Left Behind Act.
• Meets suitability criteria under Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
• Alternatives to the above qualifications may be acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Assesses student abilities related to goals and outcomes.
• Develops and implements instruction consistent with state courses of study.
• Plans and implements varied instructional/learning strategies.
• Manages classroom behavior and participates in school-wide behavior management.
• Communicates expectations and student progress to students and parents.
• Continuously assesses achievement and maintains documentation for reports.
• Works with other staff to plan effective instructional goals and curriculum.
• Participates in professional growth and staff development activities.
• Ensures the classroom environment is safe, healthy and conducive to learning.
• Maintains confidentiality of students' records and related matters.
• Maintains a valid Alabama professional teaching certificate and renews as required.
• Attends work timely and abides by board and school policies.
• Supports leave in accordance with board policy and notifies supervisors.
• Assumes other duties as assigned by supervisor.
