Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution.
• Certified by the State of Alabama in the appropriate area.
• Must meet highly qualified status as determined by Alabama State Department of Education.
• Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.

Responsibilities

• Uphold school rules, regulations, and Board policies.
• Participate in efficient operation of the school and system through meetings, conferences, and committee work.
• Avoid conflicts with duties and responsibilities.
• Adhere to professional ethics and conduct standards.
• Follow curricula and approved textbooks; obtain approvals for other materials.
• Foster citizenship, self-discipline, morality, and patriotism in students.
• Report to duty on time and stay after school as required.
• Meet and instruct classes at designated locations and times.
• Create a conducive classroom environment within available resources.
• Maintain discipline in the classroom and school environment.
• Prepare for classes and show evidence of preparation on request.
• Maintain accurate records as required by policy and law.
• Evaluate student progress according to established procedures.
• Seek specialist assistance when needed and refer when appropriate.
• Protect students and school property, and be available to parents outside instructional hours.
• Collaborate with staff on planning activities, goals, and methods.
• Assist in selecting books and instructional materials.
• Participate in extracurricular activities as agreed.
• Attend faculty meetings regularly.
• Maintain professional relationships with parents and the community.
• Promote positive public relations for the school and system.
• Maintain and improve professional competence.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
