Job summary

Catholic Charities Diocese of Des Moines seeks a Case Manager to support newly arrived refugee clients through the federal PIR program and the CRC initiative, coordinating housing, healthcare, education, benefits, and other services.

You will transport clients to appointments, supervise volunteers, maintain thorough case notes, and ensure timely services while working with interpreters and community partners in a fast-paced, compassionate office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Social Work, International Studies, or related field; or 1-2 years related job experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of crisis intervention, social work programs/practices and previous work with underserved or limited English communities preferred.
• Good communication skills with limited English-speaking clients and interpreters; strong listening and comprehension.
• Ability to work in a team, maintain boundaries, and support colleagues.
• Willingness to learn global culture, migration, and refugee resettlement.

Responsibilities

• Welcome newly arriving clients at the airport, often late at night.
• Assist clients with housing, leases, and liaising with landlords.
• Travel throughout Des Moines metro area to assist clients in 23 counties.
• Complete required reports for funders such as CCUSA and Bureau of Refugee Services.
• Build relationships with ethnic community organizations and partners.
