Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. is hiring an Environmental Manager based in the Cleveland office to oversee the environmental operations program for select steel sites. The role ensures compliance with environmental laws and drives standardization, risk management, and continuous improvement across locations.

You will lead by example, coach site leaders, coordinate with regulators and internal teams, and develop metrics and reports to track performance and assure excellence in environmental stewardship.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of Environmental management experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, or equivalent work experience.
• Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills to work effectively with site leadership.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize work, and handle multiple projects.
• Excellent written and verbal skills.
• Current working knowledge of various State and Federal Environmental Laws and regulations applicable to operations.
• Proficiency in MS Office products.

Responsibilities

• Regular communication/collaboration with assigned operations to ensure superior environmental compliance, and to support business objectives
• Contribute to developing plans for continuous improvement in environmental performance for assigned operations
• Ensure systematic implementation of corrective/preventive actions and sharing of best practices
• Assess performance issues and risks, and develop plans to address those risks
• Benchmark operational performance and share best practices
• Drive a superior environmental compliance program through leadership and mentoring
• Coordinate communication and response to environmental authorities and stakeholders
• Coordinate environmental performance metric reporting for assigned operations
• Lead and assist sites in implementing corporate environmental policies
• Support the company's compliance audit program through environmental audits/risk assessments
• Build and enhance tools for corporate initiatives
• Coordinate with Regulatory & Permitting on emerging regulations and permits
• Other duties as assigned
