Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. in Toledo, OH seeks an Environmental Engineer to develop and implement environmental management programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

You will work with leadership to apply technical expertise and continuous improvement to enhance environmental performance and support site initiatives. Responsibilities include coordinating with regulators, preparing training, and serving as a technical resource for compliance and sustainable operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering.
• 1–2 years of relevant experience, preferably in an industrial environment.
• Working knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting requirements.
• Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to obtain and maintain OSHA HAZWOPer, DOT HAZMAT Shipper, and EPA Method 9 certifications.
• FE/EIT certification preferred.
• Valid driver's license and commitment to company safety standards.
• Ability to travel domestically, including regional travel (~10%).
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with compliance under the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, DOT, and other applicable environmental regulations.
• Managing air, water, stormwater, spill prevention, hazardous waste, and chemical programs.
• Preparing and submitting environmental reports, audits, inspections, monitoring, and sampling activities.
• Supporting corrective actions related to environmental incidents and regulatory findings.
• Developing and delivering environmental training, maintaining compliance records, and tracking metrics.
• Supporting ISO 14001 Environmental Management System initiatives.
• Participating in Management of Change reviews and capital projects.
