Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. has an immediate opening for an Environmental Engineer at its Toledo, Ohio HBI facility.

This role supports the development and implementation of environmental management programs, systems, and processes while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Key responsibilities include coordinating with regulatory agencies, senior staff, and technical consultants; maintaining effective communication with operations and maintenance personnel; providing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with 1–2 years of relevant experience in an industrial setting.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting requirements.
• Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving and project management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to obtain and maintain OSHA HAZWOPER, DOT HAZMAT Shipper, and EPA Method 9 certifications.
• FE/EIT certification preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel ~10%.

Responsibilities

• Assist with compliance under Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, DOT and other applicable environmental regulations; manage air, water, stormwater, spill prevention, hazardous waste and chemical programs.
• Prepare and submit environmental reports, conduct audits, inspections, monitoring and sampling activities; support corrective actions for regulatory findings.
• Develop and deliver environmental training and maintain compliance records; track environmental performance metrics and support ISO 14001 initiatives.
• Participate in Management of Change reviews, capital projects, procurement activities and other duties; work independently and with teams to support site objectives.
• Other duties as assigned.
