Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, based in Seattle, is seeking an IMTX RN to provide patient-centric care, conduct nursing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This 0.83 FTE role (33 hours/week) is at the South Lake Union location.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
• Must have a current Washington State RN license or current NLC multistate license (MSL); upgrade to an MSL with WA residency within 60 days of hire.
• Oncology experience will be provided with training and support.
• Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent).
• Additional certification may be required depending on department.
• Critical thinking: analyze, apply standards, and reason.
• Ability to develop clinical judgment and manage time effectively.
• Ability to communicate clearly and listen actively.
• ONS Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Provider Card required within 3 months.
• CITI Good Clinical Practice and Human Subjects Training required within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Assesses physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs and evaluates patients’ adaptation to health changes.
• Develops a care plan based on disease, symptoms, and response to treatment.
• Educates patients, families, and caregivers on disease processes and management.
• Coordinates with inter-disciplinary team to ensure continuity of care.
• Refers patients to social work, home health care, nutrition, and other resources.
• Implements, evaluates and modifies the plan of care.
• Integrates research and evidence-based knowledge into practice.
• Administers supportive medications, hydration, chemotherapy, and cellular products for immunotherapy where applicable.
• Functions as a resource for rotating physician staff on standard practice.
• Maintains knowledge of immunotherapy clinical protocols.
• Participates in continuous process improvement.
