Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific in San Diego is seeking a scientist to join the Immunology Research Team. You will design and perform experiments to progress drug discovery projects, isolating PBMCs and immune cells, and conducting immunoassays and molecular biology work in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.

The role emphasizes cell-based assays, data interpretation, and presenting findings to teams, with an on-site, GMP-adjacent laboratory setting in the Carmel Valley area.

Qualifications

• Experience with human PBMC isolation and cellular subset purification.
• Expertise in cell culture and aseptic technique with both immortalized and primary cells.
• Experience with immunoassays (ELISA, MSD, Western Blot) and molecular biology techniques (mRNA isolation, qPCR).
• Experience with multicolor flow cytometric analysis; spectral cytometry is a plus.
• Able to explain the process behind data and implications of results.
• Strong knowledge of immunology and related scientific methods.
• Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional teams and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Design and perform experiments to support scientific activities and project goals.
• Isolate PBMCs and primary immune cells for downstream assays.
• Maintain cell lines and primary cultures.
• Perform immunological assays (ELISA, MSD, MSD) and molecular biology assays (mRNA isolation, qPCR).
• Conduct flow cytometry analyses and data interpretation.
• Present data to cross-functional teams and maintain SOPs.
