Job summary

Merck seeks a senior sales/marketing leader to head a regional Immunology Sales team in the US, driving customer engagement, portfolio ownership, and strategic accounts. You’ll partner with cross-functional teams and senior leaders to execute launch and growth initiatives.

The role emphasizes developing regional plans, optimizing access strategies, and delivering P&L results while traveling up to 50% and leading a high-performing team across the territory.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree and at least 10 years of experience in sales, marketing, or managed care within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Minimum of 3 years of people management experience.
• At least 3 years’ experience building and managing customer relationships.
• Resident of the region with the ability to travel up to 50%, including overnight trips within the assigned territory.
• Demonstrated ability to develop regional strategic business plans, implement omnichannel strategies, and partner cross-functionally to achieve launch and growth objectives.
• Strong knowledge of regional healthcare dynamics, including provider organizations, IDNs, specialty pharmacies, and access/reimbursement considerations.
• Track record of building and developing high-performing teams; strengths in strategic agility, business acumen, decision quality, driving results, managerial courage, and building effective teams.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Lead, recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing regional team to execute customer engagement strategies.
• Own the customer portfolio and ensure accurate, trusted communications across touchpoints.
• Build and sustain relationships with senior leaders and thought leaders to support engagement.
• Align account plans with payer and managed-care considerations to optimize access and reimbursement.
• Deliver regional business results and meet defined P&L targets.
• Communicate a customer-centric vision across large teams and motivate toward goals.
• Contribute to national strategy and cross-functional collaboration.
• Identify and pursue opportunities to grow the business.
• Leverage payer, patient, and HCP interactions and interdependencies for growth.
• Provide input to set annual financial goals for the assigned customer base.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
