The ideal candidate holds HTL/HT (ASCP) certifications, has 2 years of histopathology experience in the last 3 years, and an Associate or Baccalaureate degree.

Qualifications

• HTL/HT (ASCP) certification required or preferred.
• 2 years of histopathology experience in the last 3 years preferred.
• Associate degree is required or bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and processes surgical, autopsy, bone marrow, body fluids, and biopsy specimens for gross and microscopic examination by a pathologist.
• Prepares frozen sections of surgical specimens for microscopic examination by a pathologist.
• Prepares solutions for stains and special procedures.
• Performs preventive maintenance on common instruments and keeps records of maintenance; performs basic quality control and quality assurance checks.
• Answers telephones, communicates verified test results by phone, types procedures, files paperwork and slides, faxes documents, and performs data entry/retrieval as required.
