Job summary

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York is seeking a Staff Attorney in the South Bronx to provide direct legal services under the NY ONA contract. The role involves advising and representing clients in family reunification, visa extensions, naturalization and other immigration matters.

The attorney will support centers in Orange, Rockland, Sullivan and Ulster counties and travel to CCCS offices and courts. 35-hour weeks with exempt status and competitive salary are offered.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree required.
• Bar admission to any state or the District of Columbia; admission to the New York bar preferred.

Responsibilities

• Advise, counsel and represent individuals in general immigrant and non-immigrant status matters, including family reunification and visa processes.
• Advise and represent more specialized immigration applications (e.g., VAWA, U/T visas, deferred action).
• Represent individuals facing removal proceedings (e.g., asylum, cancellation of removal, bond hearings).
• Provide support to ONA Opportunity Centers and participate in trainings and Know-Your-Rights workshops.
