Job summary

Canal Alliance is seeking a staff attorney to develop the ILS Pro Bono Program and deliver specialized immigration legal services in a collaborative, trauma-informed environment.

The role includes maintaining caseload before USCIS and EOIR, recruiting and guiding pro bono volunteers, and coordinating with development and outreach teams. Hybrid work with three days in-office in San Rafael, CA.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of immigration practice experience.
• Licensed attorney, CA preferred.
• Ability to train and manage legal practitioners with varied experience.
• Bilingual English and Spanish fluency (oral and written).
• Project management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the ILS Pro Bono Program and internal procedures for pro bono case management.
• Foster relationships with local attorneys, bar associations, law firms, and law schools to recruit pro bono volunteers.
• Place cases with, train, and coordinate with pro bono volunteers.
• Mentor pro bono volunteers on case management and filing.
• Manage cases from intake through filing with USCIS and EOIR as needed.
