IMMIGRATION MANAGING ATTORNEY (BILINGUAL IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH)

The Immigration Law Office of Moises L. Barraza, LLC is a family-run practice dedicated to providing high quality, trustworthy immigration services to individuals and families. We specialize in strategizing and winning even the most complex immigration cases. We have a great work environment, and we provide healthy work-life balance and lots of growth opportunities.

We are looking to hire a Managing Attorney who has extensive experience working in immigration law, and is a motivated initiative-taker, leader, and problem-solver. The ideal Managing Attorney for our firm will be passionate about expanding the growth and mission of our law firm, which is “To Give Immigrants the Greatest Chance of Success”. This position is specifically designed for a competent individual who is looking for a long-term career with growth potential within our office.

Position Overview:

Duties of the Managing Attorney at the Immigration Law Office of Moises L. Barraza, LLC, may include (but are not limited to):

  1. Leading client consultations, screening for legal issues, and signing client contracts;
  2. Handling existing client appointments and addressing issues that arise during the case;
  3. Conducting legal research and drafting legal motions and briefs;
  4. Reviewing paralegal work product of applications to submit to USCIS and/or EOIR;
  5. Preparing clients for interviews and hearings, including USCIS interviews, consular processing, Master Calendar Hearings, and Individual Hearings;
  6. Attending client interviews and hearings;
  7. Preparing and submitting relevant motions and court filings;
  8. Working with Legal Assistants to manage court case calendars and deadlines;
  9. Managing EOIR-related deadlines, such as I-589 submissions within the one-year deadline;
  10. Meeting with clients to prepare applications related to removal defense cases;
  11. Overseeing drafting and editing of clients’ personal statements;
  12. Reviewing client forms for accuracy and timely submission;
  13. Managing incoming documents and communication with clients and the legal team;
  14. Preparing cases and documents for hearings, including reviewing drafts and managing timelines;
  15. Attending hearings and providing robust representation;
  16. Assigning follow-up tasks to legal assistants;
  17. Answering client questions about case status;
  18. Managing time efficiently and delegating tasks appropriately;
  19. Staying updated on EOIR policies and procedures;
  20. Coordinating with paralegals on USCIS applications;
  21. Conducting legal research on policies, procedures, and case law;
  22. Using technological resources ethically and effectively;
  23. Demonstrating personal initiative to improve office functionality and efficiency.
Qualifications:
  • Valid attorney license and good standing;
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English;
  • Commitment to the firm’s mission “To Give Immigrants the Greatest Chance of Success”;
  • Five or more years (preferably ten or more) experience in immigration law, including removal defense, asylum, and affirmative cases;
  • Honest, self-motivated, reliable, and flexible;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team;
  • Good rapport with clients;
  • Willing to accept feedback and adapt;
  • Poised under stress, able to meet deadlines;
  • Organized and detail-oriented;
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
Salary and Hours:

Salary and benefits range from $150,000 to $200,000, based on experience. Office hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00 am - 5:30 pm, with a 30-minute lunch. The position requires at least four days in-office and one remote day per week. We prioritize work-life balance, with a standard 40-hour workweek and no evening or weekend hours.
