Job summary

Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences in West Des Moines seeks a Simulation Technical Specialist to design, operate, and advance immersive educational experiences in a state-of-the-art Simulation Mega Center.

This hands-on role combines technical expertise, creativity, and leadership as you manage sophisticated simulation equipment, support training programs, and help drive excellence in healthcare education.

Qualifications

Associates degree or technical certification in computer technology; Bachelor’s preferred.
One year experience; five years preferred in healthcare/medical simulation.
Experience with audiovisual or IT or simulation tech is required.
Knowledge of medical terminology is highly desirable; anatomy/physiology/biochemistry preferred.
Professional certifications/licenses such as A+, CHSE, CHSOS preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead the technical operations of a Simulation Center, overseeing patient simulators, audiovisual systems, MR tech, software, and networked learning environments.
Provide expert technical support and training for faculty, staff, and learners; troubleshoot complex systems.
Manage simulation technology assets and lifecycle: procurement, maintenance, warranties, upgrades, vendor relations, repairs.
Collaborate with educators to design, implement, and evaluate innovative simulation experiences using data and emerging tech.
Drive continuous improvement through system integration, documentation, processes, mentoring, budgeting, and exploring new technologies.
