Job Description

The Field Service Technician provides professional project management, equipment installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and customer support for a complete range of industrial machinery and automation systems. This role requires strong technical abilities, clear communication, and excellent customer service skills while supporting equipment that includes conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, robotics, and PLC-based control systems. The technician also trains customer employees on fundamental operation and maintenance procedures and actively looks for opportunities to improve products, generate revenue, and deliver added value to customers while protecting and enhancing the company’s reputation.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and set up industrial machinery and equipment, including conveyors, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, robotics, and PLC-controlled systems at customer sites.
• Perform routine and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, conveyor, and robotic equipment to ensure reliable operation and minimal downtime.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues using mechanical, electrical, and PLC-based diagnostic techniques, including reading ladder logic to identify faults and resolve problems.
• Provide on-site customer support, responding to service requests, addressing technical concerns, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Train customer employees in the fundamental operation, safety, and maintenance procedures for the equipment, ensuring they can operate and maintain systems effectively.
• Document service activities, including installation details, maintenance actions, troubleshooting steps, and parts used, in a clear and organized manner.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, reliability, and usability, and communicate recommendations to internal teams and customers.
• Look for ways to generate additional revenue through service offerings, upgrades, and value-added solutions while maintaining the company’s best interests and reputation.
• Collaborate with internal engineering, manufacturing, and support teams to resolve complex technical issues and implement product improvements.
• Travel frequently to customer locations to perform installations, maintenance, and service work, representing the company professionally at all times.

Essential Skills

• Strong mechanical skills with experience working on industrial machinery and equipment.
• Solid electrical skills, including working with industrial control systems and wiring.
• Hands-on experience with conveyors, including installation, adjustment, and maintenance.
• Experience with hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting and repair.
• Experience with pneumatic systems, including setup, maintenance, and fault finding.
• Exposure to robotics in an industrial environment, including installation and maintenance support.
• Ability to read and interpret PLC ladder logic for troubleshooting control system issues.
• Proficient troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with customers and training their employees.
• Strong customer service orientation with the ability to build positive relationships and manage expectations.
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively, including overnight trips, as required by service assignments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• PLC programming experience is a plus but not required.
• Experience training operators and maintenance personnel on industrial equipment is beneficial.
• Experience in field service or industrial maintenance is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple service tasks.
• Strong problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and value creation for customers.

Work Environment

The role combines shop-based work with approximately 75% travel to customer locations, offering a dynamic mix of hands‑on tasks in both controlled workshop settings and varied field environments. Technicians work with industrial machinery including conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, robotics, and PLC‑controlled equipment, using standard mechanical and electrical tools, diagnostic instruments, and laptops for PLC logic review. Travel can be nationwide or international, and the technician can be based in any location that supports regular travel. Work may involve standing for extended periods, working around moving machinery, and adhering to safety protocols and appropriate industrial attire such as work boots, safety glasses, and other required personal protective equipment.

This is a Permanent position based out of Spokane Valley, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60320.00 - $60320.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
