Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate administrative functions, including scheduling and on-call coverage; manage travel requests and approvals.
  • Lead monthly meetings with the Director to review program utilization and messaging for Service Members.
  • Support NCNG Yellow Ribbon Program across deployment phases.
  • Develop resource lists of external rehabilitative services beyond the VA for veterans and families.
  • Oversee crisis intervention, assessment, and counseling services; ensure appropriate treatment modalities.

Job description

Location: Norfolk, VA

On-site/Off-Site: Wilmington, NC

Experience:

  • 1 year post-graduate experience preferred in behavioral health program management.
  • 1 year post-graduate experience preferred working with community agencies and military personnel.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Execute administrative functions, to include coverage/scheduling on-call availability, generate pre-travel authorization requests, submit travel requests to COR minimum 14 days prior to planned travel, scheduling of clinical and non-clinical case managers, maintaining consent forms, and maintaining system updates with G6 coordination.
  • At a minimum, have a monthly team meeting with the Director to review program utilization for potential development of messaging to Service Members; provide recommendations to COR for Gov't approval.
  • Coordinate to support the NCNG Yellow Ribbon Program throughout each phase of the Deployment Cycle (before, during, and after).
  • Plan, develop, and implement a list of agencies and organizations outside of the Veteran's Administration which provides rehabilitative services to traumatized veterans and significant others.
  • Provide oversight/management to ensure that the NCNG IMHS provides crisis intervention, psychological assessment, treatment, psychotherapy, and additional treatment modalities, to include educational, vocational, and rehabilitative counseling as needed.
  • Assist veterans and their significant others by utilizing the various resources available: Veteran's Administration and members of the Vet Center staff as well as professionals at the VA Outpatient Clinic, VA Medical Center, outreach team, and community organizations.
  • Promote and maintain communication and working relationships with federal, state, and local government agencies to include the following programs within the NCNG: Sexual Assault Prevention Program, Suicide Prevention Program, Army Casualty Operations, Survivor Outreach Services, State Family Programs, NCNG Yellow Ribbon Program, and Soldier Resiliency
  • Provide Service Members with behavioral health care including consultations for those initially using Military Treatment Facilities (MTF), VA, TRICARE network provider, and/or non-network providers.
  • Inform and educate Service Members and command of resources available to psychological readiness (TRICARE, local community resources, NG sponsored programs, e.g. State and local community medical programs, etc.).
  • Ensure that Service Member medical records are in accordance with America Psychological Association Patient Administration Functions.
  • Provide reports on utilization of the program, case management, and critical cases reports for the director to include in monthly, quarterly, and yearly updates to the COR on the status of programs.
  • Provide care to eligible members, facilitated by registries, information technology, health information exchange, and other means to assure that eligible members get the indicated care when and where they need it in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner
  • Coordinate non-clinical resource referrals pertaining to housing, finance, food, shelters, utility assistance, mortgage relief, etc.
  • Immediately process and resource crisis situations with mentally unstable, suicidal, or high risk populations.
Must Haves:
  • Knowledge of federal and state legal requirements pertaining to mental health counseling and patient confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and Privacy Acts in civilian and military settings as well as the professional ethics surrounding the mental health career field.
  • Strong organizational & communication skills, both written and verbal
  • One year experience working with a Computerized Medical database system preferred.
  • One year experience working on a virtual team preferred.
