Job summary

Northwestern Medicine in Chicago seeks an Assistant Tech Imaging to support technologists, nurses, and physicians in Imaging Services. You will help coordinate patient flow, prepare exam rooms, verify orders, and handle imaging paperwork and CDs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem solving and organizational skills.
• Demonstrates computer skills.
• CPR Certification (BLS).
• Previous experience in a healthcare delivery position is preferred.
• Bilingual language skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cares for the patient throughout the treatment/procedure according to department and hospital standards of care.
• Provides systems support by preparing procedure rooms for patients prior to arrival.
• Assists in preparing patient for exam/procedure and answers basic questions.
• Follows directions of technologist/nurse to assist in exam/procedure.
• Processes CDs and assists with patient transport and equipment handling.
• Helps coordinate patient care based on imaging protocols.
• Interacts with clinical staff to coordinate patient flow.
• Reconciles physician orders to correct exam protocol and escalates discrepancies.
• Prepares paperwork and information for procedures.
• Retrieves physician orders from EPIC, Chartview, Powerchart, and other systems.
• Verifies patient demographics and information for accuracy.
• Monitors schedule to ensure efficient patient flow and notifies delays.
• Identifies and obtains paperwork required to start exams.
• Supports proper handling of outside films and patient imaging requests.
• Reports problems to supervisors as needed.
• Uses RadNet and PACS; maintains stock of supplies and cleanliness of rooms.
• Operates equipment safely, maintains workspace and documents safety checks.
• Follows policies to contribute to departmental efficiency.
• Organizes work and prioritizes tasks to meet deadlines.
• Provides clerical/technical support as assigned by Manager.
