Job summary

Sioux Falls Specialty Hospital is seeking a detail‑oriented scheduling coordinator to join the MRI coordination team in Sioux Falls, SD. You will connect with patients, physicians, clinics, and MRI technologists to ensure timely, accurate care.

Responsibilities include coordinating appointments, resources, and necessary documentation while supporting workflow and patient transportation as needed. A high school diploma and medical familiarity are required, CPR preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One+ year of experience in the medical field; familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
• One+ year of experience with insurance and managed-care contracts preferred.
• AHA CPR certification required or can be obtained upon hire.

Job description

We're looking for a detail-oriented, organized, and patient-focused team member to join our MRI scheduling and coordination team. In this role, you'll be an important connection between patients, physicians, clinics, hospital teams, and MRI technologists - helping ensure patients receive the right care at the right time.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Coordinate patient appointments for MRI procedures and, as needed, other services such as OR, Pain Clinic, CT, and infusion.
• Connect with patients to schedule MRI appointments, answer questions, and ensure they have the information needed for their visit.
• Coordinate MRI resources, including selecting the appropriate scanner based on patient needs and safety requirements.
• Ensure appointments are ready to go by coordinating physician orders, authorizations, insurance and demographic information, and required screening documentation.
• Partner with physicians, clinics, MRI technologists, Medical Records, Recovery Care, and other hospital teams to keep scheduling and patient care moving smoothly.
• Help optimize department workflow by coordinating cases and scanner availability effectively.
• Support patients requiring additional coordination, including arranging MRI scheduling and transportation for Recovery Care patients.
• Serve as a key point of contact by responding to calls and keeping providers, supervisors, and team members informed of scheduling needs and equipment considerations.
  

SHIFTS

Five 8-hour shifts Monday-Friday, 8:30AM-5:00PM. No Weekends. No On-Call. No Holidays.

SFSH Midwest Medical Building | 716 E. 19th Street Sioux Falls, SD 57105

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One plus year of experience in the medical field, including familiarity with medical terminology, highly preferred.
• One plus year of experience with insurance and managed-care contracts preferred.
• AHA CPR course required; can be obtained upon hire.
