Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Tech for Imaging on a part-time daytime schedule. The role supports RN-led care, performs basic nursing tasks, and assists patients with daily activities while maintaining a clean, safe unit.

The candidate will monitor vital signs, assist with meals and personal care, and communicate updates to nursing staff. A BLS certification and CNA/CMA/EMT credentials or nursing student status are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• CNA, CMA, EMT, or nursing student with one semester of clinical completed.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic patient care activities as delegated by an RN, including monitoring vital signs and glucose measurements.
• Assists patients with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Reports abnormal findings or changes to nursing staff.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Demonstrates flexibility and multitasking under stress.
• Prioritizes unit work and collaborates with the charge RN/manager.
• Acts as liaison between patient care units and other departments.
• Answers calls and relays information to staff/family/patients.
• Manages overall unit workflow with RN leadership.
• Performs pre-census and validates daily admission/discharge/census lists.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Nursing student with one semester of clinical completed
