Job summary

MaineGeneral Health in Augusta is seeking a Patient Access Representative for our Imaging Department. You will greet patients, collect information, explain the process, and coordinate with unit staff to ensure accurate registration and scheduling.

You will verify demographics, assist with payments and co-pays, and support patients and families with a compassionate, service-oriented approach in a busy medical office.

Qualifications

• Extensive customer service experience.
• Excellent and demonstrated communication skills/Computer literacy.
• 1 year of patient registration, scheduling, or other clerical/customer service experience in a medical office setting preferred.
• Ability to keyboard accurately and quickly.
• Basic insurance knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meets with patient or patient’s caregiver to exchange necessary information and documentation.
• Provides explanation of process and addresses concerns and questions.
• Communicates with unit staff and other appropriate personnel to exchange necessary information and determine placement.
• Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays deductibles, and coinsurance, or refers to financial counselors for follow up.
• Ensures that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered in the registration system with timeliness and accuracy.
