Job summary

MaineGeneral Health System is seeking a Patient Service Representative to greet patients, answer calls, and perform clerical duties supporting clinical departments at our Maine locations.

You will schedule appointments, verify insurance, collect payments, and ensure accurate demographic, billing, and clinical data in the registration system, collaborating with providers and labs as needed.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients, answers phones, and performs clerical duties as needed to support clinical departments.
• Schedules appointment times using computerized scheduling programs.
• Verifies insurance benefits and may obtain precertification/authorization as necessary.
• Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles, and/or refers to financial counselors for follow-up.
• Ensures that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered into the registration system with timeliness and accuracy.
