Job summary

MaineGeneral Health is seeking a Patient Scheduler to join our team. The candidate will gather patient demographics and insurance information for scheduled appointments at our facility and physician practices, and will communicate pre-procedure instructions to patients in a fast-paced call-center environment.

You will schedule using scheduling programs, coordinate with medical staff to ensure facility and staff availability, and enter information into the EMR with strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• 1+ year working in customer service, preferably in healthcare.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Experience with using everyday computer electronic technology tools (e.g., email, data retrieval, voicemail, and internet/intranet) as well as the ability to effectively utilize and enter information in the electronic medical record (EMR).

Responsibilities

• Schedules appointment times using computerized scheduling programs.
• Communicates with medical and clinical staff to ensure the availability of facilities and staff and intake preauthorization’s at the time of scheduling.
• Communicates with patients and/or their families, as permissible, to provide necessary pre-procedure instructions and to confirm appointments.
• Intakes demographics, insurance information, and pre-authorizations as necessary for all scheduled encounters.
