Job summary

IHOP Knoxville is hiring for evening shifts in an entry level leadership role. The Shift Manager will lead a team during shifts, ensure smooth operation, uphold IHOP brand values, and maintain high food quality standards while delivering exceptional service.

Starting pay is $16 per hour. Weekend and night availability is required. Benefits include health, dental and vision insurance, paid vacation, shift meals, and opportunities for advancement within the restaurant.

Qualifications

• Experience in a supervisory or management role in restaurant preferred.
• Strong leadership and team development abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Proficiency with POS systems and restaurant management software.
• Willingness to undergo a background check on hire.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily restaurant operations during assigned shifts, ensuring health & safety regulations, policies, and service standards.
• Address customer inquiries and resolve complaints to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Supervise, train, and motivate staff to deliver outstanding service.
• Foster a positive and productive work environment.
• Help achieve sales targets and maintain profitability.
• Maintain records of employee performance, inventory, and sales reports; provide improvement recommendations.
• Monitor inventory, order supplies, and manage food costs; ensure adequate supplies for the shift.
• Handle finances and occasional bank runs.

The Shift Manager will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the restaurant during shifts, leading a team of staff to provide exceptional service, maintaining high food quality standards, and upholding the IHOP brand values.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee daily operations of the restaurant during assigned shifts, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, company policies, and service standards.
• Ensure a high level of guest satisfaction by addressing customer inquiries and resolving complaints efficiently and professionally.
• Supervise, train, and motivate staff to deliver outstanding customer service.
• Foster a positive and productive work environment.
• Help achieve sales targets and maintain profitability.
• Maintain accurate records of employee performance, inventory, and sales reports. Provide recommendations for improvements when necessary.
• Assist in monitoring inventory levels, ordering supplies, and managing food costs. Ensure that there are always adequate levels of food, paper, kitchen, safety, janitorial, uniform, linen, and other miscellaneous supplies for your shift.
• Handle finances and make a daily run to the bank when needed

QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous experience in a supervisory or management role in the restaurant industry preferred.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
