Job summary

Prospect Schools in Brooklyn seeks an organized Elementary School Interventionist and IEP Coordinator to support students through targeted small-group instruction and robust IEP management. The role emphasizes collaboration with families and service providers within a diverse, equity-driven school culture.

The position requires SPED experience, a Special Education certification, and a Bachelor's degree; a Master’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree is required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Special Education certification and/or SPED experience required.
  • Prior teaching experience preferred, including intervention and specially designed instruction.
  • Exceptionally strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Experience working in diverse school communities.
  • Adept at collaborating and building community with others.

Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted small group instruction using push-in and pull-out models.
  • Manage a caseload of Tier 2 and Tier 3 students.
  • Plan and deliver SETSS sessions aligned to IEPs and grade-level needs.
  • Use data to differentiate instruction and meet individual goals.
  • Demonstrate strong content knowledge in Math and ELA with objective-driven instruction.
  • Apply structured literacy practices (Orton‑Gillingham) where applicable.
  • Create a structured, supportive small group learning environment.
  • Set clear expectations and routines fostering consistency and independence.
  • Cultivate a classroom culture grounded in high expectations, student voice, and belonging.
  • Write, implement, and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Monitor progress toward IEP goals and communicate with families.
